“This was interesting, I've used no solvent for this having read Tad Spurgeon's essays on pre-industrial painting methods. I used Michael Harding's Cremintz white and some putty made up of whiting (chalk) and some standard art store linseed oil. I admit to using a tiny amount of turpentine in the initial drawing/wash in as it all seemed so sticky. I'm going to experiment more; useful to overturn all one's working methods... perhaps!”
